We decided to leave on Saturday morning and save a vacation day for another trip since this trail didn’t look too hard and we had completed over 16 miles in about 5-6 hours the first Red River Gorge trip. Well we were wrong on that one.  The terrain didn’t seem any harder than RRG but it was much hotter and around 70% humidity.

We left from the new trail head at the Hope schoolhouse Point A some time midday. The trail was pretty steep up to Pt. B and levels out after that. We made good time to Pt. C and D  got water and continued on to Pt I and the second camp site. We ate lunch there and filled  up with water again from the seasonal supplied water. The trail to here did not look like it was used much, and the trail from there to Pt. P was even more over grown and lacked the appearance of use. much of the trail had grass growing in the middle of the path. This leg of the trail took forever.

When we arrived at the third camp we found it was very busy and near capacity. We were lucky enough to find three trees to hang from. We  set up camp and ate dinner and prepped for bed. The night was nicely quite as we expected some of the people to be loud through out the night. At one point the moon came out and looked like a spotlight on us.

The next day we skipped the northern loop and proceed to the last leg of the trail. This was defiantly a more strenuous trip than expected. I will have to take better notes  the next trip as I am writing this a week after the trip .
