Whats in my pack will only include my standard camping equipment. Things carried on my person, food and radio equipment will be separate posts.
My Current Pack is a BPL 70 from My Trail Co the successor of Golite. It is a 70 liter pack that can be compacted to a 25 liter pack with a few connection points on the bottom and side of the pack. The BPL 70l weighs in at 2lbs 3.5oz. It is rated for 40lbs.
Sleeping:
I have a homemade under quilt from a kit from ripstop by the roll. It is a 40° full length quilt made with 7.5 oz/sq Climashield APEX and weighs 23.5oz. The quilt stuffs down ok in a regular sack but a compression sack may work better. I had quite a time sewing this. The MEMBRANE 10 taffeta nylon I used on one side is very silky and moves around a lot and gets under the other fabric and sewing machine. Overall this is a doable kit if you have some sewing experience or know someone who does. My grandmother helped considerably when I ran into some trouble. This definitely makes for a better night sleep even when the temperature is in the 60s-70s when you think you would be ok with out a underquilt.
I Just added a Stock Burrow Econ 40 and Stock Econ Pillow to my pack which I wrote about previously. The quilt weighs 17oz and the pillow 3.5oz
Also just added was the Dutchware 11′ netless hammock that I wrote about in the same article. I have yet to use this as well. I really hope this solves my poor sleeping problems. That sums up the sleeping gear.
For Shelter I have the Pelican tarp from Humming Bird Hammocks. It could be considered a four season tarp as it has doors. It is very compact and light, it weights in at 15.27oz and made from .9oz silpoly. I use hikemax UL titanium stakes that weighs 4.16 oz for 6 stakes and the Dutchware dutch wire and slide locks.
I just bought this week a gear hammock that Jason is delivering today since he couldn’t wait to get his and knows USPS doesn’t like me. The gear hammock is produced by John Rammel at TrailHeadz Hammocks and Accessories on Facebook. It is designed for 50-60L packs possibly a 70L. The hammock is made from ripstop hyper d 1.0 and includes 2mm dynaglide whoopies attached. At the time of this writing he was surprised with very high demand and was ordering more fabric. He was continuing to take orders with a little wait. I plan on hanging this under my hammock to keep my gear out of the mud. Here is Johns picture of his product. I will have more pictures of mine in the future.
My cook set includes a 1Qt. container, The GWP (gram weenie pro) cook kit. The kit contains the Batchstovez 12oz pot with lid, the gram weenie pro stove with cold weather wrap, carbon felt windscreen and heat shield, silicon lip guard and 4 oz fuel bottle. I have added a carbon felt pot holder and have two 30ml bottles I am testing, each hold just over 1oz; enough fuel for a meal. I also carry a tiny esbit stove and a few fuel cubes. The whole kit weights 11oz. I carry a 2L Hydrapak seeker collapsible blader for when there is limited water on the trail.
Toiletries include baby wipes,TP and a small trowel.
I hope I have provided you with enough information on the items I wrote of today. please use the contact page to ask any questions you may have. Be sure to Check out Jasons latest video.
