NM8B Radio Room.

Well DMR is proving to less interesting then I thought it would be. I have been running two hotspots so I can be in two talk groups at the same time. I thought that there would be a base of activity on some of the state wide talk groups, so far when I am home there is almost no activity. Random key ups and occasional calls for a specific person. I had intended to make this a mobile hotspot, right now I don’t know if I should invest the time in building it. It does appear the YSF reflector is operating again, One node is operating both DMR and YSF. I did hear a conversation a few nights ago and was able to connect both on the DMR and YSF radios. I am still not able to get in to the local repeaters. It is unclear if it is my programming or just distance from the repeater.

I have got (MC) MeshCore up and running with the repeater on the tower, so far it hears no-one but me. after talking to a local ham who has both MeshCore and (MT) MeshTastic running, I have decided to put a few things on MeshTastic as MeshCore builds out. I haven’t flashed anything yet but I do like the verity of options the MeshTastic app has. I understand the change in how the mesh is used, but I think with the limited infrastructure in the area MT may be the better option for now. I think it could possibly help the MC mesh if we didn’t use the US standard Coding rate 5 and Spreading Factor 7, and used C8 and SF 12. I have no evidence or way of proving this; it is only speculation as this is supposed to increase range and reliability. I initially set up on this then realized no one else was using it, so it would be pointless . Additionally I don’t understand the MC server room, this maybe because its mine and how I connect, but it just looks like a channel. Maybe this is correct, however the server room does not register as a repeater with my companion nodes. It is repeating but you cannot set a path through it.

I am still waiting on my Nino TNC so no progress on the VHF BBS. I guess it is time to contact the company, it has been several weeks since I ordered..
